A Home with History
a stay with soul
Warm, relaxed, and refined, Oliver & Cecile offers a curated escape where every detail is deliberate and every experience tailored.
A Return to the Roots of Covington Hospitality
Built in 1925 by Oliver and Cecile Hebert, this historic home once belonged to one of Covington’s most beloved locals. As the town’s pharmacist, Mr. Hebert was a fixture in the local drugstore which stood just a block away at what is now Del Porto restaurant. Both of the Heberts were also dedicated patrons of the arts, amassing a collection of paintings and prints that represented a wide range of styles, techniques, and cultural influences. In 2001, Tom and Maureen Chambliss lovingly restored the property, modernizing its structure while preserving its character, and opened it as a quiet bed and breakfast.
Today, that same soul remains at the heart of Oliver & Cecile, a reimagined retreat rooted in small-town charm and styled for modern escape. What was once a six-room inn with telephone-only reservations is now stepping confidently into a new chapter, with crafted experiences, local art, and a touch of mystique around every corner.

Preserved with Purpose
Originally constructed in 1925 and located within Covington’s historic district, Oliver & Cecile honors the legacy of its namesake founders through a respectful renovation and renewed vision. This property is not only a place to stay, it’s a piece of Covington history, thoughtfully updated for today’s traveler, Northshore local, and history-lover.

A Home,
Not a Hotel
At Oliver & Cecile, no two rooms are alike because they were never meant to be. Some are compact and cozy. Others offer full kitchens, soaking tubs, or sleeping arrangements for families. Five of the six rooms have private exterior access, and all blend refined comfort with personal detail: lavender salts in locally made vessels, tools for birdwatching or natural exploration, hand-selected books waiting beside the bed, and many other special touches.
The house’s public spaces echo that same charm, designed for conversation, creativity, and calm. Whether you're enjoying a book in the den or lounging near the fire with an evening pour, you’re not just visiting. You're staying somewhere.

The Lounge
at Oliver & Cecile
As a guest at Oliver & Cecile, you’ll have access to our four signature lounge spaces, each with its own tone and tempo. Enjoy morning walks in Downtown Covington under the mossy oaks or evening drinks in the dining room, sip craft cocktails in our intimate bar tucked inside the kitchen, unwind with vinyl in our cozy, moody den, or settle into plush seating with takeaway treats you discovered during a day on the town. Each space is designed for comfort, connection, and a touch of indulgence.
Our lounge is currently exclusive to guests, but we anticipate opening to the public soon under limited hours. Our Covington neighbors are invited and encouraged to drop in and say hello anytime, however––we welcome any opportunity to catch up with you and share updates on our progress.

For Gatherings That
Feel Like Home
From intimate weddings to private dinners and cocktail hours, Oliver & Cecile offers the warmth of a well-loved residence with the polish of a boutique venue. The house, gardens, and tented lawn can be reserved for full-site events and small, curated events.
